Gold and green forests

چکیده
Sweden's fauna and flora are constantly changing. Humans have not only deliberately promoted introduced new species in horticulture, agriculture forestry, they also acted as a vector for the introduction of alien through, example, transportation food. When these spread rapidly affect biodiversity, deemed ‘invasive species’. This artistic research project explores articulates how humans, part system where nature culture meet, complex functioning ecosystems through movement species. The starting point is iconic elm tree its cultural natural been wiped out large parts Europe by invasive fungus Ophistoma novo ulmi. With extinction come ecological losses. Those losses examined interpreted this work, dialogue with people. At same time, another explored, Canadian goldenrod, which, unlike elm, expanding rapidly. explorations, life stories about will be created our collective memory, but speculation what happens when species, such spreads. form my narrative based materials, crafts objects. متن کاملGreen Synthesis of Gold Nanoparticles
Nanotechnology has emerged as the interdisciplinary science conjugating the basic concept of engineering with the application of biology, chemistry, physics and medical science1. Research in the field of synthesis of nanoparticles has been growing dramatically over the last few decades due to their unusual and highly interesting properties with wide potential applications like antifungal activi...
متن کاملGold Nanowire Forests for SERS Detection**
Simple wet chemistry has been applied to control the vertical growth of gold nanowires on a glass substrate. As a consequence, the longitudinal localized surface plasmon band position can be tuned from 656 to 1477 nm in a few minutes by simply controlling the growth rate and time. This allowed us to select the optimum conditions for maximum electromagnetic enhancement and performance in surface...
متن کاملAmazon forests green-up during 2005 drought.
Coupled climate-carbon cycle models suggest that Amazon forests are vulnerable to both long- and short-term droughts, but satellite observations showed a large-scale photosynthetic green-up in intact evergreen forests of the Amazon in response to a short, intense drought in 2005. These findings suggest that Amazon forests, although threatened by human-caused deforestation and fire and possibly ...
متن کاملGreen and Gold Open Access Percentages and Growth, by Discipline
Most refereed journal articles today are published in subscription journals, accessible only to subscribing institutions, hence losing considerable research impact. Making articles freely accessible online ("Open Access," OA) maximizes their impact. Articles can be made OA in two ways: by self-archiving them on the web (“Green OA”) or by publishing them in OA journals (“Gold OA”). We compared t...
